Tanzania-based Eastern Cape boxer Asemahle ‘The Predator’ Wellem is going to fight for the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) light-heavyweight title against Kazakhstan’s Ali Akhmedov next month.

Wellem, who successfully defended his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa light-heavyweight title with a fourth round stoppage win over Ghanaian Prince Oko Nartey at Ubungo, Dar-Es-Salaam, in Tanzania, last month, faces Akhmedov at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Saturday, 25 July.

Wellem, a former South African super-middleweight champion, is on a roll, having won his last four fights. Three of his victories came from stoppages.

Meanwhile, Akhmedov, who resides in California in the United States of America (USA), last fought when he defeated Ghanaian Delali Miledzi in November.

The 30-year-old Akhmedov has won nine times and lost once in his last 10 fights. He has a professional record of 25 victories with 17 knockouts and two losses compared to Wellem’s 11 wins, six stoppages and two defeats.
