Now campaigning in a different division, former South African welterweight champion, Ntethelelo ‘Baby G’ Nkosi, is going to make his welterweight debut later this month.

Nkosi is set to square up against Calvin Madondo at a Golden Gloves Foundation’s Shaya Thursday tournament scheduled for the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on the 29th of October.

“It’s my first fight in a new division and I’m fighting against someone who has not lost here at home,” Nkosi, who is rated third in the welterweight division, said.

Nkosi drew with former SA junior-lightweight titlist, Sibusiso Zingange, in a catchweight bout at the Emperors Palace in March this year. He now has 10 wins with five knockouts, three defeats and a draw.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe-born Madondo, who is based in Cape Town, has won five fights with four of those victories coming from stoppages and only one loss.

Meanwhile, the SA junior-welterweight title is still vacant since Nkosi relinquished it to pursue glory in the WBC Grand Prix in April last year.
