Boxing trainer Sean Smith is satisfied with how his boxer Thabiso Mchunu’s preparations for his fight against Ilunga Makabu are going.
Mchunu, who challenges World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Makabu in less than two weeks, is preparing in Mexico City, Mexico. Their fight is set for Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio, United States, on Saturday, 29 January (Sunday, 30 January South African time).
“Going very well. Mexico is great and the weather is mild. The preparations are continuing and all is going well,” Smith said from Mexico City.
The 33-year-old Mchunu together with his stablemate Thulani Mbenge, Smith, George Smith and Jerry Thomas will leave Mexico City for Ohio on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Makabu will go to the duel having a slight advantage as he stopped Mchunu in the 11th round during their clash in 2015.
