Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has admitted that Baroka FC, who drew 1-1 with them in a DStv Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Monday evening, put the Brazilians under pressure in the second half.

The pressure resulted in Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele equalising through Richard Mbulu right at the death after Lyle Lakay had given the Tshwane giants the lead early in the second half.

“They piled a lot of pressure on us in the second half. We did not create too many chances, we were reliant on set-pieces. We could see the game was going to demand a lot because the field was very narrow. They piled a lot of pressure on us,” Mngqithi remarked.

“We could not create clear cut chances, but that’s not an excuse. I think we deserved to win the match afterall. Credit must be given to them, they gave it a fight. We have to take this point away from home. It still counts for something. We cannot just take it as if we lost the match.”

Meanwhile, Bakgaga coach Kgoloko Thobejane has said that a point is better than nothing as they fight to move up the Premiership standings. Bakgaga moved one place from 15th to 14th on the log.

“It was our game. First half a penalty, we missed it. Second half they caught us very early. We scored in the end. Half a loaf is better than nothing. We wanted three points. The position is not good,” Thobejane said.
