Banyana Banyana defender Bambanani Mbane has insisted that mental preparedness is going to be key when they face Netherlands in an international friendly match on Tuesday evening.

Coach Desiree Ellis’ team will face the Europeans at the Hague and Mbane is expected to play a key role during the match.

“We have to be mentally strong because Netherlands is one of the big teams in the world. We have to be strong,” Bambanani said.

The 32-year-old Mamelodi Sundowns defender from Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape has admitted that this is not going to be an easy match for them.

“It’s not gonna be an easy game to play against Netherlands. We have to pull together. It’s important to weigh ourselves as a team,” Mbane said.

“This game is going to help us a lot. We need games like these to measure how far we are in terms of preparation as a team, where we can improve and also help each other with improving.”

Banyana Banyana are going to use the match as part of their preparations for the African Women’s Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco in July.
