Kaitano Tembo’s 23-year stay at SuperSport United has come to an end after the club fired him for poor results on Tuesday and appointed Andre Arendse to take over the coaching of the team on a caretaker role.

Zimbabwe-born Tembo joined Matsatsantsa as a player from Seven Stars in 1999. Upon retirement, Tembo graduated to the coaching set-up at the club.
He was assistant coach to Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter and Eric Tinkler before his elevation in 2018. He won the MTN8 trophy during 2019/2020 season.
Matsatsantsa are eighth on the DStv Premiership table after winning eight matches, drawn seven and lost nine times. They have scored 30 goals and conceded 27.
Meanwhile, Arendse is going to be assisted by former Matsatsantsa player Thabo September and goalkeeper coach Grant Johnson.
