Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has confirmed that they are going to leave for Mexico less than 10 days before his boxer’s fight against Elwin ‘La Pulga’ Soto.
The 34-year-old Budler faces the Mexican in a World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-flyweight elimination bout at Palanque Fex in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, on Saturday, 25 June (Sunday, 26 June, South African time).
Mexicali in Baja California is where Soto, a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-flyweight champion, resides.
“We are going to leave for Mexico nine days before the fight. This is the first time I’m taking a boxer to Mexico,” Nathan revealed.
The award-winning Nathan, who is the chief trainer at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, also revealed that his request for neutral officials has succeeded.
The winner of this bout is going to challenge reigning WBC junior-flyweight champion Kenshiro ‘The Amazing Boy’ Teraji from Japan.
Teraji stopped his compatriot Masamichi Yabuki in the third round during their rematch in March this year. The 30-year-old Teraji avenged last September’s 10th round stoppage loss to Yabuki.
