South African champion Ayabonga ‘Jay Jay’ Sonjica does not see any problem in facing veteran boxer Bongani Mahlangu next month.

The unbeaten Sonjica is scheduled to defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa and SA junior-featherweight titles against Mahlangu from the Vaal at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday, 3 July.

“Things are okay. We know what is needed going to this fight. Yes, he’s been there, but I don’t think he has fought a southpaw like me,” Sonjica, who turns 31 on 27 June, said.

This clash between Johannesburg-based Sonjica and Mahlangu is going to be promoted by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP).

The lad from Duncan Village defeated Tanzanian Kasimu Hamad Haji by a second round stoppage at the Orient Theatre last December.

On the other hand, the 42-year-old Mahlangu once held the SA junior-featherweight title before being dethroned by Ludumo Lamati in April 2017.
