Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses are going to play against Banyana Banyana in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the Prince Moulay Abdellad Stadium in Rabat on Saturday evening.
This comes after the Moroccans beat the Nigerian Super Falcons, who had been reduced to nine players following two red cards, 5-4 on penalties at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat early on Tuesday morning.
This encounter was decided on spot kicks after the two sides played to a 1-1 draw in two hours of footbalI.
The Super Falcons were reduced to 10 players when Halimatu Ayinde was sent off following dangerous play on Rossela Ayane in the 50th minute.
Playing with 10 players, the Super Falcons took the lead in the 62nd after Yasmin Mrabet’s own goal. Four minutes later, the Atlas Lionesses levelled matters through Sanna Mssoudy.
Bad luck struck again as the Super Falcons were reduced to nine players following Rasheedat Ajibade’s sending off for a second bookable offence after she had fouled Zineb Redouani in the 70th minute.
