Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender and captain Ricardo Nascimento scored for Thwihli Thwahla in the second minute of the match after the Amakhosi defence failed to clear a corner kick.
This win means that Thwihli Thwahla continued their dominance over Amakhosi as they beat them both home and away in Premiership matches last season.
The loss signalled a bad start for Arthur Zwane as Amakhosi head coach. Zwane was appointed Chiefs coach during off-season with the hope that he would bring back glory days to the team.
