Cape Town City’s bad start to the season continued as they lost their third straight match after they were beaten 2-1 by AmaZulu in a DStv Premiership clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
Usuthu came from behind for the second consecutive match to bag three points like they did against SuperSport United at home midweek.
The Citizens were the first to score when Khanyisa Mayo, who scored his second goal of the season, broke the deadlock in the 36th minute.
Six minutes later, Usuthu equalised through Augustine Kwem after he lobbed the ball over an advancing Citizens goalkeeper Hugo Marques.
Gabadinho Mhango turned and took a shot past Marques in the 52nd minute to give Usuthu the winning goal. This was the Malawian’s second goal in two successive matches.
The Citizens were reduced to 10 men in added time after Mpho Makola was red carded for a dangerous tackle on Usuthu captain Makhehleni Makhaula.
