Bafana Bafana caretaker coach Helman Mkhalele has bemoaned his players’ lack of game time.
Mkhalele felt like this after Bafana suffered a 2-0 loss to Angola in a second round, first leg CHAN qualifier at the Estadio de 11 Novembro in Luanda on Sunday.
“I would like to congratulate the Angolan team. I’m also proud of my players. The effort they gave throughout the 90 minutes and more for the fact that the majority of these players are not getting game time at their clubs and you could see along the game,” Mkhalele remarked.
“The legs were not there. They couldn’t run for 90 minutes even though we tried to push in the second half. I believe with this game we gained a lot in terms of conditioning of the players.”
Bafana will get a chance to overturn the tables when they clash with the Angolans in the second leg at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto next Sunday.
