Award-winning boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan continues to lead boxers to world championship glory after guiding Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga to conquest early on Sunday morning (South African time).

Nontshinga outpointed Mexican boxer Hector Flores to win the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Hermosillo, Sorona, Mexico.

Nathan together with Nontshinga’s father Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni manned the 23-year-old boxer’s corner during the Flores fight.

“We are good. Obviously, we are over the moon. Big shout-out to Team Nontshinga. It was a great fight. Big shout-out to Best for letting me look after his son. South Africa has got a legitimate world champion. It’s a proud moment for all of us,” Nathan said.

This is the second time Nathan led a boxer to IBF junior-flyweight glory. He guided Hekkie Budler to victory over Japanese Ryoichi Taguchi in Tokyo, Japan, in May 2018.

Cape Town-born Nathan has led the 34-year-old Budler to a string of world titles and the Ring Magazine belt. He has also led Moruti Mthalane to victory in the IBF flyweight.
