Bangile Nyangani has said that his opponent Gaveni Nkwenteni had nothing to offer during their fight at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening.
Nyangani said this after he retained his South African minimumweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Nkwenteni from East London.
The SA champion made it clear even before the fight that Nkwenteni didn’t deserve to be in the same ring with him. That he won every round proved him right.
“He was a moving punching bag. After round six he didn’t want to fight. His corner was pushing him and I was also very careful of him,” Nyangani said.
Nyangani from Bityi in Mthatha, who was making a second defence of the national title he won when he outpointed former champion Siyakholwa Kuse in July last year, is rated by the world’s top four boxing bodies.
He is rated 14th by both the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) while he’s eighth on the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings and in 13th spot in the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
