Boxing referee and judge Namhla Tyuluba’s quest to become one of the best ring officials is taking her to Central America.
In an effort to make sure that she gets more experience and rub shoulders with some of the best ring officials, Tyuluba has decided to attend the World Boxing Council (WBC) convention in Mexico next month. The convention is going to run from Sunday, 6 to Saturday, 12 November.
“I’m going there to share ideas with other ring officials with the aim of taking my career further. I will be doing that because my dream is to officiate in WBC title fights,”Tyuluba said.
It has been a very long way for Cofimvaba-born Tyuluba since she started as a ring official 12 years ago.
And her officiating hasn’t gone unnoticed since she started in 2010. She has been nominated for the South African Boxing Awards on three occasions.
She was a Most Promising Female Ring Official of the Year nominee in 2016. She then went on to be nominated for the Female Ring Official of the Year award in 2017 and 2018.
Meanwhile, another South African referee and judge Ben Ncapai is also travelling to Mexico to attend the WBC convention.
