Two victories since moving to the heavyweight division have earned South African boxer Kevin Lerena a world title shot.
Lerena, who comes from a win over Polish boxer Mariusz Wach, is scheduled to challenge World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the United Kingdom on Saturday, 3 December.
Lerena won the vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental heavyweight title when he outpointed Wach at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park last month.
The former IBO cruiserweight champion, who has registered 28 victories against a single defeat, has stopped 14 of his opponents.
An only blemish on Lerena’s record is a loss he suffered to Johnny Muller in November 2014. He, however, avenged that defeat when he stopped Muller in April 2016.
Meanwhile, Dubois is a formidable opponent who has won 18 times with 17 of those victories coming from stoppages agaibst one defeat.
The 25-year-old Dubois’ only loss was against knockout specialist Joe Joyce in November 2020.
