Pakistan beat the Proteas by 33 runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method in a Group 2 Super 12 Twenty20 World Cup match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, in Australia on Thursday.
The Pakistanis knocked 185 for five in their alloted 20 overs with Shadab Khan top scoring after hitting 52 runs off 22 balls.
The Proteas were chasing 186 to win before rain interrupted play and then their overs were reduced to 14 using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Captain Temba Bavuma top scored with 36 runs from 19 deliveries. However, the Proteas could only scored 108 runs for nine in overs.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi took three wickets for 14 in three overs while Proteas bowler Anrich Nortje claimed four and leaked 41 runs in four overs.
