Ludumo ‘9MM’ Lamati will fight for the first time in the featherweight division when he faces off with Mark Anthony Geraldo from the Philippines in two weeks’ time.
The 30-year-old Lamati and the experienced Geraldo are going to collide against each other in Durban on Thursday, 17 November.
Lamati decided to move up from junior-featherweight to featherweight after he struggled with weight and visited the scales three times before his clash against Filipino boxer Ken Jordan in Johannesburg last month.
“Yes, I’m going to fight in Durban in two weeks’ time. I’m fighting against Mark Anthony from the Philippines,” Lamati confirmed.
The former South African and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-featherweight champion, who is trained by Phumzile Matyhila in Johannesburg, has 20 wins (10 knockouts) and a draw.
On the other hand, Geraldo is an experienced campaigner having won 38 fights with 19 of those victories being knockouts against 11 losses and three draws.
Meanwhile, this is the same tournament where former IBO lightweight champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni will clash with Thai boxer Apinun Khongsong in an international bout.
Saw Lamati doing strength training in the gym and he looked very strong. Impressive.
