The J4Joy Boxing Promotions tournament, which was initially scheduled for the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday and then moved to Tuesday has now been confirmed for Thursday.

This follows after King MisuZulu kaZwelithini gave the tournament his blessings on the weekend.

After failing to ensure the tournament went ahead on Sunday, the organisers said that the show would go ahead at a sceret venue on Tuesday because of ‘security reasons’. The tournament will now be only for VVIPs.

The tournament is now pencilled for the Olive Convention Centre in Durban instead of the original venue – Moses Mabhida Stadium.

It became clear on Friday that the Sunday tournament won’t go ahead after boxers, trainers and managers didn’t receive airtickets to travel to Durban.

The 35-year-old Cornejo is scheduled to meet South African female middleweight champion Mapule Ngubane in a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) International female title fight.

Giron faces Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile in a vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental lightweight title fight while Mendoza is scheduled to clash with SA bantamweight champion Ronald Malindi in a World Boxing Federation (WBF) title contest.

Meanwhile, current SA junior-welterweight champion Prince Dlomo will defend his title against Marcus Lebogo in the same tournament.
