The Proteas were bowled for 189 in 68.4 overs in the first innings of the second Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday.
Lanky Marco Jansen top scored after he knocked 59 runs from 136 deliveries with Kyle Verrynne hitting 52 having faced 99 balls. Jansen and Verrynne tried their best tp steady the Proteas’ ship after the top order batsmen failed to score runs.
Australian allrounder Cameron Green took five wickets and gave away 27 in 10.4 overs with three maidens.
At stumps, Australia were 45 for one having lost Usman Khawaja’s wicket. Khawaja was Kagiso Rabada’s victim. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne will resume on Tuesday after they hit 32 and five runsrespectively.
