Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha’s dedication to boxing is almost unmatched as he continued training throughout the festive season despite having no set date for his next fight.
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental junior-flyweight champion had his fight against Jemsi Kibazange from Tanzania postponed last month.
“I have not spoken to anyone about my next fight even though I have been training throughout. I have been training because I want to maintain my fitness,” the former South African junior-flyweight champion said.
Tyirha hasn’t fought since winning the IBF Intercontinental junior-flyweight title following a dominant performance against Filipino boxer Orlie Silvestre last October.
The Mdantsane boxer is rated seventh by the World Boxing Council (WBC), 15th by the IBF and is fourth on the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) ratings.
Tyirha, who is promoted by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP), is trained by Khangelani Jack. He fought twice last year defeating Filipino boxers Silvestre and Esneth Domingo.
