AmaZulu gave Kaizer Chiefs a proper hiding humiliating them 4-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Friday evening.
It was former Amakhosi players Dumisani Zuma and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who netted two goals before the 40th minute mark.
Zuma gave Usuthu the lead with a header from another former Chiefs player George Maluleka’s corner in the 14th minute.
Chiefs had an opportunity to level matters, but their forward Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana’s penalty was saved by Usuthu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa in the 17th minute. Amakhosi were awarded a penalty after Abbubaker Mobara had fouled Ashley du Preez inside the box.
Mphahlele doubled Usuthu’s lead when he headed past Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune in the 38th minute following an assist from Maluleka.
Ivorian Junior Dion, who joined Usuthu recently, made it 3-0 following a mistake by Khune and Edmilson Dove on the stroke of half-time.
Bonginkosi Ntuli rounded Khune before making it 4-0 in referee’s added time to give Usuthu coach Romain ‘Fohloza’ Folz his second win since he started coaching in South Africa.
