Mamelodi Sundowns have stretched their lead on top of the DStv Premiership standings to 19 points after they defeated TS Galaxy 2-1 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Tuesday evening.
The Tshwane giants took the lead through their defender Rushine de Reuck’s header in the 11th minute. Four minutes later, an injured De Reuck was substituted by Brian Onyango in the 15th minute.
The Brazilians doubled their lead when Namibian Peter Shalulile netted his eighth goal of the season in the 64th minute.
Djakaridja Traore made it 2-1 from the penalty spot in referee’s added time. Match referee Philangenkosi Khumalo awarded the Rocketsthe penalty after Denis Onyango had fouled Orebotse Mongae.
The Brazilians, who have recorded 13 straight wins, have now collected 49 points from 16 wins, a draw and two losses. Second-placed Richards Bay FC have 30 points.
