Orlando Pirates laboured to a 2-1 win over Venda Football Academy (VFA) in a Nedbank Cup last-16 encounter at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday evening.
Pirates needed an extra time goal from Thembinkosi Lorch to go past the Motsepe Foundation Championship side from Limpopo. The Buccaneers had taken the lead through Kermit Erasmus in the 24th minute with Edmore Chirambadare equalising for VFA four minutes into the second half.
