Orlando Pirates are through to the final of the Nedbank Cup after they defeated their bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 In a semi-final match at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday.
The Buccaneers took the lead in the 14th minute after Kermit Erasmus beat Amakhosi goalminder Brandon Petersen following a pass from Monnapule Saleng.
Bucs were dealt a heavy blow when their defender Bandile Shandu had a concussion and was replaced by Deon Hotto on the stroke of half-time.
Amakhosi continued to attack and their efforts were duly rewarded when their captain Yusuf Maart equalised in the 79th minute following after he received a pass from Dillan Solomons.
Bucs defender Sandile Mthethwa, formerly with Chippa United, restored Pirates’ lead when he headed past Petersen from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo’s cross in the 114th minute.
