Mamelodi Sundowns have been dealt a big blow as death has visited them taking their official Alex ‘Gold Fingers’ Shakoane on Sunday after a short battle with stroke.
Shakoane, who was a former policeman, has been part of the Brazilians for more than three decades and started as their public relations officer before he became the club’s supporters mobilisation manager.
‘Mamelodi Sundowns is deeply saddened to announce the untimely passing of its long serving communications manager and staunch supporter, Alex Shakoane,” a Sundowns statement said on Sunday evening.
Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe said: “The Motsepe family, the board, the supporters and all the members of the Mamelodi Sundowns family mourn and are deeply saddened by the passing of Alex” Goldfinger” Shakoane whom we all loved dearly. Bra Alex’s life was all about Mamelodi Sundowns and we will miss his unique contributions and larger than life personality.”
