Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki is looking forward to a very important confrontation between his team and Ghana’s Black Stars.
Bafana engage the Black Stars in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Thursday (18h00).
Both sides are on nine points having won three times and lost once. Anyone who wins on Thursday will be in a very good position to qualify for Cameroon.
“We worked on regeneration, more on tactical work. All the players called up tested negative, a big plus for us. Those who came with niggling injuries our medical team has done a good job on them. Basically, a very important confrontation when it comes to Ghana. We are ready and focused on achieving our objectives,” Ntseki said.
“We must emphasise the importance of this game. We are professionals and we are fully aware of what lies ahead.”
Ntseki didn’t hide his disappointment following some overseas clubs’ decision not to release players for Bafana. Bongani Zungu, Dean Furman and Keegan Dolly were denied a chance to be part of Bafana. Their clubs cited the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason behind their refusal to release them.
“I’m very disappointed because we always look at football as a global sport. The circular sent to clubs is a sad story for football,” said Ntseki.
It’s time for Bafana to avenge their 2-0 loss to the Black Stars earlier during the qualifiers.
