Eastern Cape boxer Luvuyo Mputi is happy that a fight that was due to have taken place in May is finally happening as he’s going to clash with Sanele Msimang in Durban next month.
And Mputi is adamant that it is only his hand that is going to be raised after the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International junior-welterweight title contest against Msimang at the APN Portuguese Hall on Saturday, 5 August.
“We were supposed to have fought in May, but the fight never took place. We were going to fight for an ABU title in East London. I’m happy that I’m finally going to fight against Msimang,” the Eastern Cape junior-welterweight champion remarked.
Trained by Khangelani Jack, Mputi, who turns 33 five days before the fight, is looking at giving himself a perfect birthday present by defeating Inchanga-born Msimang.
“I believe in being fully prepared before going to a fight. This is going to be the first time I fight outside the Eastern Cape. I’m not concerned about fighting against Sanele in Durban because I know I’m going to win. The win is going to be my birthday present as I’m turning 33 on the 31st of July. I’m going to celebrate after the fight,” Mputi said.
