Duncan Village boxer Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo is relieved now that his inactivity will come to an end as he returns to the ring towards the end of the month.

Sigqibo is scheduled to face off against unbeaten Brazilian boxer Gustavo Lucas dos Santos in an international bout at a TLB Boxing Promotions tournament at Vodaworld, Midrand, on Saturday, 26 August.

“I’m going to fight against an opponent from Brazil on the 26th of this month. This is a relief because it’s been a long time since I last fought,” the former South African junior-bantamweight champion confirmed.

This is going to be Sigqibo’s first fight since he lost to former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) minimumweight, junior-flyweight and flyweight champion Kosei Tanaka in Japan in December last year.

On the other hand, Dos Santos, who has stopped all his five opponents, has fought twice this year, defeating his compatriots Tiago Xavier da Silva in May and Adriano Augusto Silva Paiva in February.

Meanwhile, this is going to be the first time the 31-year-old Dos Santos from Sao Paulo, who goes by the moniker Popozinho, fights outside Brazil.
