Fighting away from home is not giving Zolisa Batyi any sleepless nights as he continues to prepare for his fight against Abdul-Aziz Kunert in just over two weeks’ time.

Batyi is scheduled to defend his South African featherweight title against Kunert at the Bellville campus of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town on Friday, 25 August.

“He’s not in the same level as I am and I’m going to show him during the fight. He can go take the Western Cape or ABU title, not the South African title. This title is mine and is going nowhere. He is an easy boxer and I’m going to knock him out,” Batyi said.

This is going to be Batyi’s first defence of the title he won after he stopped former champion Jeff Magagane in the second round at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, in December last year.

On the other hand, it’s going to be Kunert’s second attempt at winning the same title. He failed in his first attempt as he lost to Asanda Gingqi when they fought for the then vacant title in Johannesburg in September 2021.
