The disciplinary committee of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) found Mamelodi Sundowns and their captain Themba Zwane guilty of misconduct on Thursday.
This followed the delay in kick-off during the Brazilians’ MTN8 quarter-final match against Moroka Swallows at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville almost two weeks ago.
The PSL DC fined Sundowns R50 000 half of which was suspended provided they don’t committ the same offence in the next 12 months.
Zwane was slapped with a R20 000 fine, half of it was suspended on condition that he’s not found guilty of the same offence in the next 12 months.
“Effectively, between Mr. Themba Zwane and Mamelodi Sundowns, they have to pay a cumulative amount of R35 000 plus costs of sitting, as well as write an apology to the League/sponsors,” PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said.
