An 18-hour flight to Japan has not deterred award-winning boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan from his mission as he embarks on yet another important assignment abroad.
Nathan together with his boxer Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler, assistant trainer Shannon Strydom and cutman Bernie Pailman are in Japan seeking to return home with glory.
Budler is scheduled to challenge current World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ junior-flyweight champion Kenshiro ‘The Amazing Boy’ Teraji at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday next week.
“It was a long flight, 18 hours. It’s all good, we are all here. Conditions are good and we are settling nicely,” Nathan said from Japan.
Not only will the WBC and WBA titles be at stake during this shootout, the two opponents are going to battle it out for the Ring Magazine belt as well.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old Budler was successful the last time he visited Japan more than three years ago.
He defeated Japanese boxer Ryoichi Taguchi by a unanimous decision to win the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and WBA ‘Super’ junior-flyweight titles as well as the Ring Magazine belt at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo in May 2018.
