Thembelani Nxoshe’s trainer Amanda ‘Jahman’ Magatya wants his boxer to succeed where other Eastern Cape boxers failed.
At least four boxers from the Eastern Cape have failed to wrestle the South African flyweight title away from current champion Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke, who’s gunning to become the outright owner of the belt.
Chauke has made four successful defences of his title defeating Sihle Jelwana, Luyanda Ntwanambe and Sinethemba Kotana while he drew with Phumelela Cafu.
And Nxoshe’s trainer wants the Mdantsane boxer to dethrone the 38-year-old Chauke when they clash at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Sunday.
“Preparations are going well, everything is in control. We prepared in all angles, but our aim is to teach him then a knockout will be a bonus. Mdantsane is going to have a new champion on Sunday,” Magatya said.
Nxoshe will be out to reclaim the title he once held while Chauke from Tembisa in Ekurhuleni wants a successful fifth defence.
Rated fourth in the current ratings, Nxoshe is the current Eastern Cape flyweight champion following his eighth round stoppage win over Xolisile Voyi in March this year.
