Hot Box Gym chief trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan believes hunger for success drives world title contender Khanyile ‘Man Dee’ Bulana.
The Scenery Park boxer has taken a huge step in his fistic career and has travelled to Italy to challenge reigning International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight champion Michael Magnesi on Friday. Bulana’s fight against the Italian is going to be held at the Palazzetto Valle Martella Zagarolo in Lazio, Italy.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for Bulana because he’s unbeaten. He’s a former South African featherweight champion and if the law allowed he would have been a two-weight South African champion because he won the IBF Africa championship,” Nathan said.
Nobody gave Bulana a chance before he defeated Phila Mpontshane to have the IBF Africa junior-lightweight belt strapped around his waist. Mpontshane hadn’t been beaten in almost six years before the Bulana fight.
Meanwhile, Bulana is going to have Vusi Mtolo and Johan Truter in his corner in Nathan’s absence. Nathan is in Tunis, Tunisia, finalising IBF flyweight champion Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane’s preparations before his fourth defence against Sunny Edwards from the United Kingdom (UK) in London on Friday, 30 April.
