After going for a scan on Friday, Lusizo ‘Speedfire’ Manzana’s handlers are now hoping that his shoulder problems will be a thing of the past as he will undergo an operation next week.
In an effort to make sure that Manzana returns to action, he is scheduled to undergo a shoulder operation at the Bedford Hospital in Mthatha on Wednesday next week.
Mthatha-born Manzana, who is trained by Thembani Gopheni in Mdantsane, has been troubled by shoulder problems. The problem got worse and deprived him of an opportunity to win the South African bantamweight title during a fight against Landile Ngxeke at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) last month.
Meanwhile, Sada-born Ngxeke stopped the 26-year-old Manzana in the fourth round to win the then vacant national bantamweight title.
