It looks like boxing followers will have to wait a little longer for Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha’s come back following his shock eighth round stoppage loss to Malawian boxer George Kandulo at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) last year.
Tyhirha was due to make a return against Mfanuvele Ntuli at a Boxing5 Promotions tournament at the Box Camp Booysens in Johannesburg early next month. However, the fight is not happening anymore after negotiations between Tyirha’s manager Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe collapsed on Thursday morning.
“I’m not fighting anymore. My manager and the promoters couldn’t come to an agreement. I was looking forward to the fight as I have not fought for some time,” the former South African junior-flyweight titlist said.
“I really need a fight. I’m willing to work with anyone who will give me a fight. I have been working very hard and I feel I’m ready to fight again.”
Mdantsane-born Tyirha moved from East London to Johannesburg to train under former South African bantamweight champion Phumzile ‘Sweet Chocolate’ Matyhila’s eyes last month.
