After leading his team Orlando Pirates to a 3-2 win over Kaizer Chiefs in a Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday afternoon, Buccaneers coach Jose Riveiro reckoned that the match lived up to expectations.
The Buccaneers came from behind twice before snatching the win, which was their second victory against Amakhosi this season having beaten them 1-0 in the first round.
“I think both teams competed the way you have to compete in a derby. A good game. Everybody was running an extra mile. I was a nice derby, five goals. Obviously, I’m happy with the work we did. I’m proud of the boys,” Riveiro said.
Meanwhile, Amakhosi coach Cavin Johnson lamented some of the goals they conceded against the Buccaneers saying that they were too soft.
“What a game! You take the lead twice and you throw away the game in the end. But I thought we had our moments, they had their moments. We should not have given them the two goals. I think the two goals they got from us were very, very soft. The second and the third goal,” Johnson said.
“We had the game, we had the one point, we had the three points, now we have no points and I think that is something we have to look at, we gotta ask ourselves what are we doing as players on this pitch because then you got to fight.”
