President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Danny Jordaan and Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki are shocked following the death of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana defender Motjeka Madisha.
The 25-year-old Madisha passed away following a car crash in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is believed that Madisha was with another passenger when his car caught fire following a crash. It is also believed that Madisha died outside the burning car after he had managed to come out of it.
‘‘I’m still trying to ascertain facts of what really happened, but this is terrible news. Condolences to Sundowns, his family and the entire football family,’’ said Jordaan.
The news of the former national Under-20 captain’s death has hit hard on Bafana mentor Ntseki.
‘‘It is so devastating for such an up-and-coming player to lose his life this way. They don’t come more professional like the late Madisha. He was ever smiling, humble and was the first to arrive and leave the training ground,’’ Ntseki said.
‘‘He was a rising star with the right attitude and his positive attitude among other players was always invaluable. This is sad for football, my deepest condolences. We are hurt.’’
Madisha’s death follows less than a month after another former Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca, who was buried in Cape Town on Thursday, passed away in a car crash near Mthunzini in KwaZulu/Natal.
