Siphamandla ‘Toytoy’ Baleni will fight for the first time on home soil in more than 16 months when he trades leather with unbeaten Zimbabwean boxer Beaven Sibanda in June.
The former South African champion and Sibanda are scheduled to face off in an eight rounds bout on Saturday, 15 June, at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park.
Baleni, an erstwhile SA minimumweight and junior-flyweight titlist, last fought in South Africa when he defeated Mzamo Makhipheni by a stoppage at the OrientTheatre i EastLondon in December 2022.
Mthatha-born Baleni, who is rated 14th by the World Boxing Council (WBC), lost to unbeaten Hasanboy Dusmatov from Uzbekistan in Russia in November last year.
