Amzolele ‘Globe’ Dyeyi, a former amateur star, is scheduled to make his professional debut just a month after he ditched his vest to make a switch to the paid ranks.

A silver medallist at the recent 2024 Mandela African Boxing Cup tournament held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention (ICC) in Durban, Dyeyi is going to face off against a winless Loyiso Basayi in just less than two weeks’ time.

Mdantsane-born Dyeyi meets Basayi, who has two losses, in a bantamweight bout at a Fantastic 2 Boxing Promotions tournament set to be held at the Kibler Park Recreation Centre south of Johannesburg on Friday, 24 May.

The 22-year-old Dyeyi, formerly trained by Zolile ‘Gqo’ Mahambi in Mdantsane, is a three-time Eastern Cape amateur champion and was also crowned twice nationally. Dyeyi is now trained by 2023 Trainer of the Year award winner Khangelani Jack in Gauteng.
