Nkosinathi ‘Mabhere’ Joyi has lost his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) mini-flyweight title.
Joyi from Mdantsane failed to make the required weight during an official weigh-in on Thursday ahead of his fight against Ayanda Ndulani from Scenery Park at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in East London on Friday.
This means that the former world champion, who weighed 48.10 kilograms instead of the agreed 47.63 kilograms, won’t have the belt strapped around his waist if he beats Ndulani.
On the other hand, Siphamandla Baleni and Nwabisile Cholani clash in a vacant South African junior-flyweight title fight. This title became vacant after it was relinquished by Nhlanhla Tyirha.
Meanwhile, Tyirha and his opponent Joey Canoy from the Philippines made the weight. Tyirha and Canoy are going to fight in an international junior-flyweight bout over 10 rounds.
