It’s a major relief as Chippa United will once again be able to play night games at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London, starting from the upcoming season.
After Chippa Holdings made sure that the stadium underwent massive renovations, the Chilli Boys returned to the venue last season, but couldn’t play night matches because of floodlights challenges.
Previously, the Chilli Boys played night games at the Arcadia venue before they switched to Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane more than five seasons ago.
“We are almost there in as far as the floodlights are concerned. They are gonna be done soon. We will play between five and seven matches in East London next season,” Chilli Boys executive director Lukanyo Mzinzi revealed.
Meanwhile, the Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys were scheduled to launch their new jersey on Friday, 2 August. However, the launch not going to happen anymore as it clashes with the opening of the Eastern Cape Legislature. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
