Chippa United are back and they are going to play in the Home of Legends Cup at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday next week.
The Chilli Boys withdrew from the tournament earlier this week citing unequal treatment from the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA).
But everything was ironed out after a meeting between MBDA chief executive officer Anele Qaba and Chilli Boys chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, which resulted in the Gqeberha club returning to the tournament with Cape Town City being elbowed out.
“It is with great pleasure to announce that the engagement session was fruitful and conducted professionally, which led to both parties finding each other in reaching a consesus on the way forward,” a joint statement from the MBDA and the Chilli Boys said on Friday.
The Chilli Boys are going to play against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semi-final at 13h00 while Kaizer Chiefs face Lamontville Golden Arrows at 10am.
