Normally, 45-year-old Bongani ‘Wonderboy’ Mahlangu wouldn’t show that he’s on the wrong side in as far as age is concerned, however, that showed when he was stopped in the third round by Siyabulela Hem in a rematch at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday evening.

Mahlangu took the fight to Hem immediately after the first bell. But a left hook to the temple floored Mahlangu, who until that time had been doing very well taking the fight. Hem dropped Mahlangu again early in the second round following a straight right.

Hem decked the Boipatong-born Mahlangu yet again in the third round. Duncan Village-born Hem won the rematch as referee Lulama Mtya stopped the onslaught in the third round.

Meanwhile, Siseko Teyisi maintained his unblemished record as he stopped Mfanuvele Ntuli to win the vacant SA junior-flyweight title. The lad from Mdantsane maintain has won all his six fights with stoppages.

On the other hand, Asanda Gingqi retained his SA junior-lightweight title following the 10th round technical knockout win over Khanyisani Mbokazi.
