The recently-announced board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) is going to meet with the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association (NPBPA) on Monday.
The new board is made up of Ayanda Zamantungwa Khumalo, who is the chairperson, Mthokozisi Radebe, Sydney James, Vince Blennies, Rina Jude, Saudah Hamid Chetty and Siyakha Simelane.
Khumalo is the second female to be appointed as BSA board chairperson. Ntambi Ravele was the first female to chair the BSA board after she was appointed by then Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula in August 2013.
Our informant has told us that Monday’s meeting is just to introduce the new board to the NPBPA, which is made up of its chairperson Ayanda Matiti, Lebo Mahoko, Zandile Malinga, Kaya Majeke and Phathutshedzo Dongola.
“It’s just an introductory meeting, nothing more,” one of our informants said.
Matiti was until recently the only licensed promoter in the NPBPA leadership while his colleagues only got their licences after Boxing South Africa (BSA) showed them mercy by allowing them to make arrangements to pay what they owe the regulator.
