With a perfect record of 10 wins, one would think unbeaten South African flyweight champion Nkosingiphile Sibisi would be content with what he has achieved so far.
But it’s not the case as the 23-year-old pugilist from Glencoe in KwaZulu-Natal feels that he could have done more in his boxing career.
“I feel my career is stagnant even though I’m happy to be a South African champion. I have big dreams and I want to fulfil them,” Sibisi said.
Sibisi is fresh from a second successful defence of his SA title after he defeated Zolile Miya from Soweto on points at the Estcourt Town Hall in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday evening.
“What I can say is that I’m very happy to have successfully defended my title. There were people who thought Zolile was going to take my title, but that didn’t happen,” Sibisi said.
He added: “I proved once again that I’m the best in the division. And with that mind, I would love to go all the way and fight for the world title. KwaZulu-Natal does not have a world champion and I want to make history by becoming one.”
Sibisi, who has won all his 10 fights with two of those victories coming from knockouts, won the SA title after he defeated Trevor Nghonyama in March last year. He then successfully defended his crown against Theo Nxayiphi as well as Miya. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
