With history beckoning as Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe gets engaged in the biggest fight of her boxing career as she faces Mexican opponent Gabriela ‘La Bonita’ Sanchez Saavedra, her trainer Khangelani Jack is confident that they will have a triumphant home return.

Hadebe collides with Sanchez in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver flyweight title fight at the GNP Auditorium in Puebla, Mexico, early on Saturday morning, South African time.

A win will mean that Hadebe becomes the first South African female boxer to have a WBC belt strapped around her waist.

“Everything went very well during our fight preparations. We are physically and mentally ready for this fight. We are ready for everything that Sanchez is gonna throw at us. Our main aim is to return home with the belt,” Jack remarked.

The two lasses were due to have met in South Africa last year, but their fight had to be cancelled after a promoter failed to secure funds for their purses.

This is the first time that Hadebe, the current SA female flyweight champion, fights since her win over Tanzanian opponent Jesca Mfinanga in June last year. And Jack wants to make this trip to Mexico the most memorable one. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
