Three South African boxers will fly the country’s flag in the quarter-finals of the WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.

Bekizizwe Maitse clashes against American boxer Iman Lee in the featherweight division while former SA junior-welterweight champion Ntethelelo Nkosi faces Italian Fiorenzo Priolo with Keaton Gomes trading blows against Devon Young from the United States of America (USA) at the Global Theatre Boulevard Riyadh City in Riyadh. 

Maitse reached the last eight of the competition after he defeated Tanzanian opponent Juma Ramadhan Juma Kikande, who goes by the ring name Juma Choki and Lee beat Hector Munguía Calderon from Mexico in June. 

On the other hand, Nkosi outpointed Chinese boxer Ju Wu while Priolo overcame Efe Kunok from Türkiye in the previous round of the competition. 

Gomes reached the quarter-finals after he recorded a fourth round stoppage victory over Alija Mesic from Bosnia and Herzegovina. And Young advanced to the third round o the competition following a win over Argentine boxer Jonathan Vergara.
