Next week’s tournament, which was going to be promoted by Thanya Marageni’s Thanya Boxing Promotions at the Kagiso Memorial and Recreation Centre in Krugersdorp has been postponed to next month.

The show set to feature the likes of Simangele Hadebe and Mpumelelo Tshabalala was due to be held on Saturday, 30 August and will now take place on Friday, 12 September.

In a statement Marageni said: ” We wish to inform you that the boxing tournament initially scheduled to take place on the 30 August 2025 has been postponed. The new confirmed date for the event is 12 September 2025.”

Marageni added: “This decision was made after careful consideration and while we regret any inconvenience caused, the postponement will allow us to ensure that the tournament is conducted at the highest possible standard for the benefit of the boxers, officials and supporters.”

Hadebe was due to face off against Nigerian opponent Olamiposi Kehinde Solomon in a vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Africa female flyweight title contest while Tshabalala was set to meet ArAr Andales from the Philippines in the first defence of his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-flyweight crown.
