A new date has been set for Aphiwe ‘Swagger’ Boyiya’s fight against Sibusiso Zingange in a vacant South African junior-welterweight title contest.
Originally set for 26 July at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, the fight was then postponed to next month. Now this fight is pencilled for Johannesburg on Saturday, 27 September.
“The fight is going to be held on the 27th of September. We have not decided on the venue yet,” TLB Boxing Promotions boss Joyce Kungwane confirmed.
And Boyiya’s manager Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani said: “We have signed the fight contract and we are fighting on the 27th of September.”
Even Thami Malinga, who’s one of Zingange’s trainers, confirmed the date of the much-awaited clash: “The fight is on the 27th of September. We have been preparing for this fight for some time now.”
Meanwhile, the SA junior-welterweight title was relinquished by Ntethelelo Nkosi in March after he chose to pursue glory in the WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
